THE PROMISE

He comes to her this cool night on just a whisper.
She anticipates his presence in the breeze.
No one can sense the magnetism between them
nor how time they spent together had such ease.

As they spoke, they came to know each other fully
There is actually nothing left for them to say
and the time they have together is left to the darkness
They have career lives that go on day to day.

A cruel twist to think you found your soulmate
when you’re wed and promised to another now for life.
But they’ve not sinned yet, and they will part forever
to keep their promise to their husband and their wife.

THE ENCAMPMENT

I can smell that purple sage
and set that tumble weed rolling
as I pitch it sailing with the toe
of this old worn leather boot

There’s nowhere like Saratoga
pitching our tent along side the
frothing current of the Encampment
and building that great open fire.

Across the stream, mountain lions
cautiously observe us frying steaks
and I wonder that but for that river
and our fire, we might not be their dinner.

Ah sunset! purple and gold; a patch of
bright orange streaking the middle; later,
an ebony sky and threee-dimensional stars you
could pick like flowers of the heavens.

Tranquillity. It is silent. Except...
the call of a bird, croak of a frog or the
rustle of the bushes where our friends the
big cats still wait across the river.

The campfire burns on through the night.
as family and good friends remember
other camps and stories of other times in
Saratoga beside the Encampment River..

THE DOBIES

Mother loved their regal stance,
dignity inherent in their breed,
alert and questioning brown eyes
that told her of their every need.

Had a number of these beauties
and loved them each and every one.
But that first little female dobie
immediately had her heart won.

Named Destiny Diane Rhiannon Peyton.
and called her Dee Dee Rhee for short.
Not black and tan, but shiny red
and yes, she was an arrogant sort.

An elegant and statuesque dog
her match to the standards was clear.
Beauty and grace when she ran
She looked like a small deer.

A remarkably talented doberman
minding each and ever command
,her best trick was when told to:
" Smile for the nice man."

Now some people are frighted by
Long canines! Incisors all in a row!
But Rhiannon just turned up her mouth
at the corners and smiled for a show.

MY LITTLE GIRL

You were born of true love
Always special to your Dad
You were a long time wished for
and the last little girl I had.

The youngest in the family
blue-grey eyes and golden curls
I tried to treat you like the rest, but
you were always my "little girl".
Then you became a woman
independent, smart and grown.
College was behind you.
You had a job all on your own.

Then this man he really fell.for you
What's a single guy to do
Well if he’s smart he makes a catch
of a remarkable person like you.

Now finally you are joined together.
I saw you walking down the aisle
exchanging vows with one another .
I saw how you made Phillip smile.

And at the saying of the vows
you became wife and mom all at once
but you are up for the challenge because
you have seen it done when you were young.
That was when you were....
and you will always be....
MY LITTLE GIRL.

About Me

My photo
IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT ME -- BUT IT IS ABOUT HOW I HANDLE THE CHALLENGE...how i continue to grow, contribute, create and let my mind and talents develop without endangering anyone else. Do I have children --- yes -- 3 biological and they all have symptoms, but they are dealing with some of the symptoms -- very successfully. Forunately none is full scale BDI, Rapid Cycling.
